Learning and Development Manager

Overseeing Competency Management, Modern Apprenticeships and Leadership Development.

We are currently looking for a candidate to join our HR team to lead our Learning and Development department. The successful candidate will oversee and implement our Learning and Development activity across our varied business.

The role will include –

  • Implementation of our Competency Process across production departments, working with managers, supervisors and team leads to set up robust systems, including capturing “the one best way” for each activity to be performed
  • Lead our SQA-accredited centre in the delivery of Modern Apprenticeships (SVQ Textile and Manufacturing/Sewn Products) and working with external training providers to deliver other relevant frameworks
  • Oversee the JoE Schools Interaction Programme, liaising with internal and external bodies to ensure the programme leads to successful hiring of school leavers
  • Continue design and delivery of the in house Leadership Development Programme, including embedding our JoE Leadership Behaviours
  • Evaluation of learning and development activities to best meet business needs
  • Line management responsibilities of one administrator

This is a permanent role, working Monday to Thursday 0800 – 1700 and Friday 0800 – 1300, equating to 39 hours per week.

  • Will be flexible and adapt quickly to change in the management of often competing priorities, ensuring goals are met to meet business objectives
  • Will have experience of leading a competency management system, where demonstration of competence is central
  • Will have excellent interpersonal skills, being a strong listener and able to influence and communicate effectively with people at all levels in the organisation
  • Can analyse and present data
  • Will be highly organised and able to contribute meaningfully to HR Management discussions
  • Will have a keen eye for detail and consistently deliver work to a high  standard with the end-user in mind
  • Can demonstrate experience of using Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
