Overview
Due to continued expansion of the business, we are looking for a Sock Knitter and Mechanic to join our Knitting department at the Hawick mill.

Responsible to:      Knitting Managers

About the Role:     Undertaking knitting and maintenance duties on sock machines within the Knitting Department.

This is a full-time permanent position, working 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday over a 2-week shift rotation.

Hourly rate is starting from £13, dependent on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivery

  • Undertake Sock Knitting Machine Duties
  • Carry out repairs and regular maintenance of sock-knitting machines
  • Undertake Other Related Duties.  

About You:

You will:

  • Sock Knitting experience preferred, but not essential as training will be provided
  • Have strong communication skills with people of all levels
  • Have a flexible attitude towards multi-skilled training
  • Be quality conscious, with a good eye for detail
  • Work well as part of a team
  • Be well organised

The post holder should be able to perform maintenance/repair tasks to machinery and would require a training period of up to 1 year to become sufficiently competent with the knitting process and up to 5 years on all mechanical aspects of the work involved.
