This vacancy is a fantastic opportunity to train and develop towards becoming an Assistant Dyer with supervisory responsibilities of running a shift within the Dyehouse operation in Elgin.
About the Role
As part of our succession plan, we are looking to appoint an individual seeking a long-term career and will undergo in-depth training over the next 4 to 5 years, covering all aspects of the Dyehouse operations. During the apprenticeship, the individual will complete the Textiles Colourations Course through the Society of Dyers and Colourists. This 3-year program will provide in-depth knowledge of the various processes within the textiles industry, specifically tailored to the dyer role. On site study and examinations will be part of the program. On successful completion of the course, you will be qualified in dyeing at higher level, with the opportunity of further education at degree equivalent.
The initial on-the-job training will cover various roles within the dyehouse, including the procedures, shopfloor responsibilities and hands-on experience in the Dye Lab.
Upon completing the apprenticeship, your career will involve playing a key role in achieving the department's goals to meet the business's needs and requirements

Applicants will be flexible and adaptable, practical and meticulous with high standards of work, and be able to work on their own initiative within a team environment. Good colour vision is essential. Due to some of the equipment used, this role is not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker.
This is a full-time, permanent position, working shifts on a rotational basis (day and back shift, with nights added after the initial training period).
Rate of pay starting from £12.42 per hour, dependant on experience.
