The Digital team at Johnstons of Elgin are seeking a dynamic, results driven trading manager to join our team and spearhead our online trading strategy across our global website. This pivotal role will be responsible for maximising online sales performance by applying strategies to optimise top line KPIs through data-led decision-making and ultimately bottom line revenue. You will be responsible for online trading strategy, ensuring our website serves as a powerful engine for driving sales and reinforcing our brand's luxury positioning. You will be a key player in shaping the future of our e-commerce operations, combining strategic vision with hands-on execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuously identify and lead opportunities to enhance CRO, using data and user insights to improve overall net sales across our global markets.
  • Lead weekly, monthly and seasonal trade performance reviews, identifying opportunities in trends and actioning optimisations.
  • Contribute to shaping the global brand strategy by proposing and implementing innovative initiatives and priorities that align with the broader organizational goals. 
  • Successfully liaise with the internal and external tech teams to ensure that system upgrades and functionality changes are delivered as required, in budget and within minimum disruption for customers
  •  Have ownership of site trading and merchandising, ensuring prime product visibility, synchronised promotions, and optimised sales results.
  • Work in close collaboration with other business functions to create a smooth, multi-channel experience for customers
  • Leverage data to continuously monitor and improve key business metrics, making data driven decisions to boost overall performance. 
  • Collaborate closely with the marketing team to ensure that all online outreach initiatives are optimized for maximum reach and effectiveness, from social media campaigns to digital advertising. 
  • Analyse, manipulate and present complex data in clear, actionable formats for the digital team, providing insights to guide decision making and ultimately lead to customer conversion or retention.
  • Work with the Head of Digital towards the optimization roadmap to enhance onsite experiences and stay aligned with evolving consumer trends.
  • Collaborate with wider team to produce promotional trading calendar in line with seasonal campaigns that is market specific.  
  • Personalise site experience to ensure content is inline with market trends in key focus regions – and not UK centric.
  • Mentor and lead a trading & UX team to further elevate the customer experience across all digital touchpoints.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in e-commerce trading, ideally within the luxury fashion or retail sector.
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce best practices, CRO principles, and web analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive sales growth and achieve targets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach.
  • Proficiency in web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Experience managing and optimising online trading across multiple international markets is highly desirable.
  • A strong understanding of the luxury consumer.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field.
