Career Progression at Johnstons of Elgin
I started a four-year Spinning Apprenticeship in 1996 and have been a Spinning Chargehand and Spinning Technician. Other roles include Yarn Manufacture Supervisor, Assistant Yarn Manufacture Manager and Yarn Manufacture Manager. After 26 years I am now General Manager.

British Standards Institution (BSI) Lead Auditor, The Institute of Six Sigma Professionals - Yellow, Green and Black Belt.

Some of the managers, past and present, have had a fantastic, positive influence on me. They remain mentors and have become good friends.
The best career advice I have received or would give:
Feel proud of what your department does. The excitement for me is when you see Johnstons of Elgin designs at London Fashion Week or our luxury Cashmere in the top stores around the world, and you think, 'that was made here’.
